SSV's Fanart Page
I'm just going to come out and say this now: I haven't really drawn anything I'm happy with concerning the Shantae series. But I do have a screencap from my dA of a Shantae model I made in Kisekae:
I tried to mimic Shantae's dancing sprite from the GBC game (minus the smile), but it didn't turn out too well in my opinion. Regardless, I'm happy with it.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
It's not exactly Shantae, but I drew this during Luke's livestream:

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
I thought that art looked familiar. I've never tried watching it, but like most who have bern exposed to anime I've heard of K-on.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
It looks cute. ^^ Dunno what Rotty would be doing underwater, (Diving for brains? ) but it's nice to see more chibis of Shantae and friends.ShantaeVocaloid wrote:And here's Rottytops underwater. Because.
Re: SSV's Fanart Page
Rotty probably doesn't have to worry too much about breathing underwater being a zombie and all. She's clearly just enjoying the simpler perks in life... erm, afterlife?
She looks great in your style! Nice work again

Did a new logo for the Fans Portal. Thanks to SkyeWelse for giving me the name of the font!

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
The text looks a bit blurry, (I guess it was a graphic font?) but it does look nice, SV. ^^ I'll copy this to the clipboard in Gimp and see how it looks scaled down to our current logo's size.
Re: SSV's Fanart Page
That's mainly because I used a downgraded version of PowerPoint and wanted to apply blur to it to make it look less pixel-ish. Think I overdid it? ^^;.Luke wrote:The text looks a bit blurry, (I guess it was a graphic font?)

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
Yeah, the blurring is still visible after shrinking. As a general rule of thumb, in my drawings, I only blur something before I shrink it with Gimp's bicubic filter. It doesn't behave like Photoshop's bicubic filter, so a little manual work beforehand is needed to get the same level of detail preservation. Apply a Gaussian blur for as many times as you need to shrink it first, then downscale.
Anyway, in my experience, using blur to upscale or smooth out things usually messes it up more than cleans it up.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
Understood. I'll drop the blur next time. ^-^

Okay, I've redone the logo so the "Fans Portal" part of the logo isn't blurred.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
To be honest, i preferred the "blurry" version better, as you said, it's too pixel-ish.
Hmmm, if you removed the "gray" tracelines on the font and add blur, it might be much better.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
Artwork at their working resolution is generally rough and edgy like this. What you see published on websites are significantly smaller versions of the canvas, and that hides a lot of rough spots. (You wouldn't be able to recognize some digital paintings up-close if you saw them at 4800x4800, instead of 1024x1024 or smaller.) By SV having posted the working resolution without the blur, I was able to downscale it to a usable size with a cleaner effect.
Edit : Downscaled to the wrong size. The grays are the only thing making this look rough. It will be better to trace over the font with fresh inks than to blur or shrink it away until the grays are gone.

Re: SSV's Fanart Page
Fun fact, that's actually a type of shadow in the version of PowerPoint that I use; I thought it'd help the logo pop out more, but if you want it removed, than okay..Luke wrote:The grays are the only thing making this look rough.

Good work so far, SV. With some tweaking as you said, I think the new font will fit nicely
