Pirate's Curse Is Up on the eShop!

The wait is over! Shantae Pirate's Curse was put up on the eShop on the 23rd. Sorry I haven't talked about it yet here outside of Tumblr, guys, my sis' birthday coincided with the game's release date, so I was drawing up something for her.

If anybody wants to talk about the game in-depth, there's always Shantae General Discussion, but discussing the release, whether anyone's got it yet, playing it, beaten it, initial thoughts, etc, could go here too.

I'm personally excited knowing that I'll be able to get the entire trilogy once I've bought a 3DS myself, and so far, the press is really happy with Pirate's Curse. Now to see what fellow fans think over the following weeks, as everyone gets their hands on the game and plays it in full.

I'll have thoughts sometime next year, once I can afford it. ^^; My GF and I plan to purchase it together, just as we did with Risky's Revenge. <3 Here's hoping that the reviews aren't off-base! At the very least, it should be good - and that's a nice benchmark, since to be consistently *phenomenal* is darn near impossible. But we can be greedy and demand greatness, eh.

I'm waiting for the New 3DS to be released in America. I'd rather buy that than a regular 3DS.

I think WayForward has said in interviews that Pirate's Curse runs smoother on the New 3DS anyway. The developers made sure it takes advantage of the hardware.

As for me, however, I'm a frugal player, so I've been considering a refurbished normal 3DS through Nintendo. A part of me is concerned that unless the New 3DS has an extended life cycle planned out, (Which I'm sure it does, because they're releasing a new system barely three years after the 3DS launch.) it will become like the DSi, and won't get enough exclusives, or a decently sized install base, before another system replaces it. At least Smash 4 runs better on the thing, that's always a huge plus.

I feel kinda guilty that I haven't finished Pirate's Curse as of yet due to how scattered my priorities have been lately, but it's definitely been well worth the wait from what I've played thus far.
With a trio of top titles and an HD adventure Kickstarted twice over, I'd say the future looks mostly sunny for our half-genie
