Let's make a topic dumping all our thoughts about parts we liked in the series.

I'll start us off.

Shantae: The third Labyrinth, period, Rottytops walks on skeleton keys. My favorite transformation in the game (by proxy of being my favorite animal.) Zombies and Wizards and Skeletons, Oh my!

Oh and also, I love the music

Risky's Revenge: I enjoyed exploring in the game quite a bit and finding all the jam jars, but I also appreciate the first time I unlocked the monkey form. :3c

My favorite parts of each game? Hmm...

SHANTAE: The story and how it progressed, the 8-bit soundtrack, the monkey and harpy transformations, and Rottytops. Kitty Face

RISKY'S REVENGE: The humor and references to Brickroad's LP of the first game, the soundtrack (again), the mermaid transformation, and the Squid Baron. Awesome Face

And who's to say we can't include the future games? Extra Smile

PIRATE'S CURSE: The gameplay in general looks a lot faster, you can actually fight that **** Ammo Baron now, and the general atmosphere - it looks quite a bit darker than the last two games. Smile

HALF-GENIE HERO: That catchy-**** theme song, the general art style, and the stretch goals so far. Laughing

I'm not saying it because you can include that too, it felt lazy that the Ammo Baron didn't get a boss fight during Risky's Revenge, and the only thing the second dungeon introduced was a recolored enemy and a challenge section, wasn't too positive a chapter in my opinion.

I really like the look of the new Pirate's Curse, numbered damage concerns me though.

Also Half-Genie hero, the catchy themesong was one of the things that drove me to back it.

The original GBC Shantae simply amazed me on all sorts of levels: seeing just how far the system could be pushed as far as graphics and sound. Even if some parts seem a bit rough looking back, there's no denying how much love was put into the presentation itself given the limitations.

What I liked most about Risky's Revenge were the incentives to replay the game in the form of time attack challenges and the battle tower.

As for the future games, well I guess we'll see what the future brings us. If there's gonna be plenty of whippin' and shakin', keep me signed in.

I noticed those numbers in the Pirate's Curse trailer too: I don't think they'll be in the final build though, since similar numbers that were in RR screenshots didn't make it into that final game: more for placeholder if that's anything to go by

Ah cool, not a fan of ye old numbers.

Yeah it was pretty amazing what I saw, at least in regards to 8-bit Hardware. It was a good looking game for the system it was made for. Kitty Face

The GBC boasts a lot more specs than the NES, but that's still not saying much; they had quite a few limitations to work around. WayForward put the system to far better use than I could have expected in Shantae, the visuals were the first thing that stood out to me. The artwork in a lot of places is so crisp and colorful, like a Megadrive/Genesis game almost, and the animations blew me away even more. It's one of the few GBC games I can go back to and not wince from how rough everything is, like some other games I've owned for the Gameboy. It's still a beautiful platformer worth playing, even if the color variety of Risky's Revenge isn't there.

The numbers will be there, Bozon referenced them in an interview, I'll find it later. It may be there solely so you can see for yourself the difference between some upgrades you might get that only raise damage and nothing else. I agree though that the numbers don't exactly fit Shantae, but we'll see.

Anyhow, Shantae GBC: The towns for me. I didn't realize how much I liked them until they were absent from RR, I understand why of course.

RR: Squid Baron! Haha I love how he pulls a dine and dash on Shantae, snd then his return as a good guy out of nowhere was pretty great too.

I completely forgot to mention the progressive overworld monster shifts in RR, where there would be different monsters between major areas depending on how far you were into the main game. Just enough of a change to keep past areas fresh and exciting. I'm hoping to see something similar in The Pirtae's Curse, especially if there isn't going to be as much space between major locales this time around
