How do/did you pronounce "Shantae"?

The Risky's Revenge iOS trailer makes it official that it is in fact pronounced "shawn-tay" (shh + on),
but truth be told, I've heard others pronounce it "shan-tay" (shh + an).

Not that I have anything against personal pronunciation preferences, just saying.
Me? I've always pronounced it the first way ever since the GBC days. How about you?

I've been pronouncing it the same way all this time. O: Didn't know I was doing it wrong.

THE SHAME

Not sure if any fan would be nitpicky over something little as a mispronunciation.

As german, the latter always seemed the natural pronounciation to me.

People have done worse with Samus's pronunciation, and it doesn't help that Prime 3 Corruption's pronunciation and Smash Bros. Announcer's clash, so I don't think even Retro Studios knows which one is more appropriate. It probably doesn't even matter, if that's the case.

I didnt know how to pronounce it as well xD but luckily they said her name quite often during the 'last 24 hours live-stream'

well yea. I wasnt sure at first how to pronounce it and my fear was that, if I let's play shantae games, most ppl would be like "OH EM GEH you pronounced her wrong bla bla" (happened to me once b4 with another game xD )

I would be amazed people still squabble over name pronunciations. Youtube's bad to have arguments in the comment section of every video anyway, so it wouldn't matter if you pronounced it right. Somebody with the wrong pronunciation would chastise you, then get owned by other commenters with downvotes! It's all too amusing.

Hah, think that's bad, well, have ya witnessed the pronunciation "discussions" concerning Pokémon? - yeah, hoo boy. o.e Not goin' there.

Pokemon name pronunciations? I probably wouldn't want to go there either. You'd think games like Coliseum with announcer voices would be ease lots of doubts, but there is two whole new gens recently that probably haven't been verbalized officially yet, oh boy.

The problem is - that even in the anime (german dub) they make pronounce mistakes..

That wouldn't be the first time a European language got a mistranslation. Nobody's looked at Tails' gender in Sonic 2 the same way again after the French manual was revealed to call him a girl by mistake. I can't begin to imagine what a haven of typos and mispronunciations dubs/subs in other languages can be.
