Could Shantae's Friends Star in Games?

Once upon a time, my sister and I were going to make a short Rottytops fan game (Jeez, I can't not make a post about her apparently!), but thus far we've been too lazy to do much beyond some concept art and a basic premise. Still, while we were planning it, I got to thinking about how integral the transformation dances are to Shantae's gameplay, and was forced to rethink the way someone who couldn't do that would play. Being a zombie, I figured Rottytops could do all sorts of quirky things, like throw her head at enemies or use her arm as a grappling hook.

And Shantae's other friends have unique skills too, I'd reckon. Well, except for Bolo, who probably just relies on weapons. Really, I guess he'd play like Shantae will in her next game, minus the hair-whipping. But Sky has Wrench and a hatchery full of trained "War Birds". Just imagine all the things you could do with an army of birds at your command. Mimic is an inventor, and could no doubt create all manner of devices to overcome various situations.

A lot of people don't like it when side characters get their own games, but with such different skills and personalities, each of these characters could have vastly different adventures across Sequin Land and beyond. This would be great, as it would allow the characters to develop independently, flesh out the world more, and we wouldn't have to worry that someday Shantae might be seen as just another series where the same hero and the same villain keep finding excuses to fight.

For a game starring Mimic, the story should be told in flashback.
You know, to tell us more about his past. I kind of picture a young Mimic as this badass archaeologist.

Totally! Not only would that let us see more of the world and its history, but we could actually see Shantae's parents. And if the game was told in flashback, it wouldn't even have to focus on just one point in Mimic's life; we could get loads of adventures across many years, eventually culminating in whatever events left him as Shantae's caretaker.
