Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
As some of you may know, I'm a nut for remixing music... When I'm able to find .midi's to work with. However, this doesn't stop the interesting collection of other peoples works from shining through. I'm of course talking about other people who have made remixes for Shantae's super-amazing soundtrack!
We'll start with official remixes, such as Baal Bhaagna by Jake himself.
Most of us are aware of the remixes, but now onto the ones that aren't so obviously come across~

Ladies and Gentlemen, let's consider this thread a collection thread in dedication of remixes. Post here if you find any more! If you guys already knew about these then glad I could remind you. Otherwise check some of these out sometime

Oh wow. I didn't know there were so many.
Gotta love them. They're great.

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Wow, these were good finds, out of the ones I haven't heard (I'd actually already heard TheNitties' remixes, just didn't realize it) I liked the Water Town remix best. It's just got a nice sound and feel to it, perfect for the actual town itself. Haha and imagining Bolo playing a flute is a plus: for some reason it kinda fits too.
I liked the Zombie Caravan remix (it's also my favorite soundtrack in the entire GBC game) but I felt it was a little too low in general. Don't know if low is the right word but I couldn't think of a better one.

Holy crap, those are good.
I especially love TheNittles' remixes (my most favorite of them being Water Town, of course). They all sound official, and they're all very, very beautiful (the Zombie Caravan remix in particular is just jazzin'!).

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
It was nice of you to put those in spoiler tags, Ex, Firefox likes to hang or crash with tons of videos in the same post. =P
Anyway, I think Water Town has to be my favorite too. ^^ These are really nice remixes, I doubted anyone would have given Shantae's soundtrack a great tribute like this, since she is still pretty obscure, ATM. The more I listen to these, the more I want to make a fan game happen; music is my biggest motivator, because without it a game has no soul or immersion to me. (Would you believe my last Sonic fan game attempt was inspired solely by an Act 2 Remix of Casino Nights Zone at VGMusic? =P I could see a Retro Blaze running wildly through a derelict Casino station in space, it was perfect!) If anything becomes of it, I'd like to get LadyArsenic's permission to use some of her remixes! ^_^
Also, some of those remixes being on Newgrounds is pretty convenient, since I didn't have to download the video and then extract the music from it, like I did for those catchy temple arrangements! Worth the hassle, though, I'm tapping my feet to all of these right now! :D

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Oh dear, it seems I missed some remixes.
Well, this one is kind of strange, as it's a song called "Shantae'esque" which isn't actually from the game, but someone who thought this sounded like something from it.
The strange thing, is that it got a sequel on Warioware Do It Yourself by a member of a fan community, found here
And speaking of D.I.Y, someone actually made a remix of Water Town on it...
And what's more! Matt himself made something for the **** game! XD It has a kind of Burning Town quote for it's background music. I imagine most of us are aware of this though.
Speaking of lower rate arrangements, one of my favorite people on youtube (a person who does arrangements via FamiTracker, a program that is used to make REAL NES (nsf) music) was challenged to arrange Tinker Bot... The rest... Is amazing.
Uh oh... After revisiting that video, I find that MORE people have been doing this! Time to battle Risky Boots on the NES!
And any boss for that matter! (This one without visuals D: )
You know what's great about these? They come with their NSF files. In other words, the songs that are inject-able into ACTUAL NES GAMES.This means you could turn on CastleVania and have the boss theme change from Poison Mind to Boss Battle from Shantae. Intense, right?! There's more!
I happen to be a hobby FL Studio Midi hack remixer. What does this mean? If I find a midi of a song then I play around with it to make it sound awesome.
I've always wanted to do Shantae music, but ever had the midi's for it. To put it simply, I have the means now. NSF easily translates into midi.
The rest is history. (Sorry for side tracking there XD) Hope you've liked my little exploration!

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Those are pretty interesting, Ex, especially the FamiTracker Boss mix, it sounds pretty close to the original track. XD
Also, this isn't directly Shantae-related, being from a highly-acclaimed Sonic fan game, but it sounds so close to the same song I'm referring to you can't miss the similarities!
Best Shantae boss mix ever. ^w^

Great remixes.
Also, Ex321, thank you for sharing my three pieces: Shantae'esque (Original), Shantae'esque (WWDIY), and Water Town (WWDIY).

Peach, you're very welcome. You're an amazing composer and I hope to hear more from you when I get the chance!
If anyone hasn't tried asking you, it'd be cool to see you contributing your talent to their upcoming fan game. (I haven't been here in awhile so I haven't heard the latest and greatest on that subject.)
Looking around for more great Shantae arrangements when I get the chance!

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Actually, I've been speaking with Paragon-Yoshi and Luke, and expressed interest in creating original Shantae music for the project. So, I might become the composer for it.Ex321 wrote:Peach, you're very welcome. You're an amazing composer and I hope to hear more from you when I get the chance!

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
It's definitely a small world we live in when one of the composers in the first post is here to comment!
Anyway, yeah, all depends on how that pans out. =P Lots of real life stuff has to come first before I can fully invest myself into it, so we'll be taking some time plotting out milestones and designing things in the meantime. If you have the time to compose some tunes by then, Peach, that'd be amazing. ;w; Original music is a great way to breathe a whole new life into a game.

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Well, hopefully the fan game is certain to be released eventually. "Job security" is important to me, for I have been a part of game projects that fell through before, leaving original songs just disconnected.
Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Aww, sorry to hear that Peach. ;__; It's terrible when great music goes to waste; even Sonic Xtreme had its whole soundtrack composed before SEGA finally canned the whole project.
And yeah, personally, I'd hope to have it done in at least a year, at most, when we do start. That's why I'm holding back on contributing until some real life concerns are met first, because I'd hate to start on a fan game just to make it and real life suffer all at once. I'd want to be able to focus on it as much as I possibly can, and that's something I can't do right now.

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Haha, I was going to post a link to my Mario Paint rendition of Dance Through The Danger, but Mr. Axol preempted me.
No sweat, though! Another remix of Dance Through The Danger has arrived, courtesy of Rick at the Kickstarter! This one's 8-bit/chiptune, and it's seriously killer.

I'll have to restart Firefox before I give it a go, (Just recently disabled PulseAudio on Linux, and haven't yet restarted Firefox on this session. :# ) but I'm glad I know what that link was Axol posted! Both of these sound worth a listen, no pun intended. I love Mario Paint remixes a lot too, it's amazing.
Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Finally gave these remixes a go, and they both hit right in the nostalgia feels. Always love a good Mario Paint remix, (You definitely put a lot of effort into this one! It still amazes me people can create serious songs with it.) and the 8-bit styled remix sounds like something you could seriously run and jump to in an NES platformer.
Also, I subscribed to your channel, by the way. ^^

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Ah, thanks muchly! Glad to have pleased your eardrums and brain. More ought to be in the mix, once HGH launches. ^^ And yessir that 8-bit mix Rick created is smashingly groovy.
Also considering piano/keyboard covers of VG tunes - I don't suppose a Shantae (or other WayForward) medley would be problematic? o.o I don't know yet! Time to practice~♪
Oh & thank you also for the subscription. owo -salute- I'd offer a cookie in return, but I wouldn't want to trigger any allergies. Cursed allergies!

It's okay, there are always burritos instead!
You're welcome. ^^ Looking forward to anything new you post in the future on Youtube. And if you could pull off a medley of Shantae, that would be interesting. O:

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
It took forever to build up the rhythm. Still, it's very soft, accurate remix of Half Genie Hero's Dancin' Through the Danger, and worth a listen.
Personally, I think it really would have been benefited from a more lively drum set, like in music from the Sonic Boom rom hack, or even the Lion King, but it's probably my fault for internally associating Megadrive music with high tempo, edgy beats not found on the SNES.

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
Nah, not only your preference but also the preferences of others such as myself. I located that remix earlier but didn't link it here since I wasn't particularly pleased by it. =\ Underwhelming and a bit hollow, to me, not rich or sharp enough to merit comparison to the general Genesis 'vibe.'
Also, there is another 'remix' out there on YouTube of Dance Through The Danger, but it barely qualifies as a remix and is overall quite irritating. It's by DeathVII, for the morbidly curious. I don't recommend it in the slightest though. e.e
Still wishing that Paradox had kept his 8-bit remix running for a minute or so longer.

Re: Shantae Video Game Music Arrangements/Remixes
I think Youtube has a repeat option now? Not sure if that only applies to playlists.
And I was worried I was the only one feeling like that remix fell a little flat. Good on other people if they enjoyed it, but I'll keep listening to Sonic Boom's Megaman remixes for edgy, shredding music on the Genesis hardware. Although I'm hoping someone else gives HGH's main theme another go with Genesis styled sound fonts, it could really shuffle some feet.

I don't know if this should be considered a proper remix, it's a mashup, but I'm going to post here anyways:
