This might be the most excited I've been for a Shantae game since Risky's Revenge. :DEveryone, if you can, GO AHEAD AND START PLEDGING FOR THIS GAME.
HEY LUKE! CAN I GET A HYPE TRAIN PLEASE?!

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I've already insta-backed this. : )
Looking very forward to it. Actually after backing the Mighty no. 9 project on Kickstarter I was "just" thinking about this, how cool it would be if a new Shantae game were being developed on Kickstarter as well.... and POOF like magic! Shantae appeared a day later. How's that for Genie-service!

Dang it, you beat me to posting a topic about this, ShantaeVocaloid. Either way, yeah, Hype Train coming right up!
THIS TRAIN ISN'T BRAKING FOR ANYONE
I was blown away watching the trailer. I'd join in with Sky and chip in some capitol myself if I wasn't strapped for cash right now. Regardless, this got me REALLY EXCITED LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE *faints*

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I know, that song is uber catchy. O: Something like this would definitely appeal to the masses too, being almost on Rayman Legends level in 2.5D visual detail. People love good animation and artwork, after all! And for once, I actually find the monkey cute in this art style, somebody stop me from squeeing to death over here.
Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Now this is what I am talking about!
All my doubts from before are now put the rest.
Glad to see Pirate's Curse won't be the last we hear of Shantae.
And also glad they return to the roots.
2.5D sounds great as well.
The only concern is whether or not we can reach the funding goals within this short window of time.
I would like to donate, if I knew how.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Seriously I'm at a loss for words. This is simply viewtiful!
It's funny too, because a day or two back I had thoughts about the possibility of WayForward doing a Kickstarter to help them fund more original games... what else can I say? Wish most certainly granted.

I'd say it's closer to Rayman Origins; Legends has that lineless painting feel, while Origins goes for a more cartoony approach like...well, like the original Rayman..Luke wrote:being almost on Rayman Legends level in 2.5D visual detail.

Heh, me too.
And it takes a lot to get me up that much. Which should tell you something.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Title change is more appropriate. ^^ A lot closer to what I had, until I saw Sonicstar had already posted a topic ahead of me so I deleted it.
Ah, I didn't know Legends were more paint-y. I feel silly now, shows how little time I've given even the demos of Origins a try.ShantaeVocaloid wrote:I'd say it's closer to Rayman Origins; Legends has that lineless painting feel, while Origins goes for a more cartoony approach like...well, like the original Rayman.
Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I think this is going to be more like a straight forward platformer.
But who cares.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
WHY did I even consider them thinking of ever dropping her. This is amazing AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-
Shaking off the goosebumps I had, I'm actually putting $200 down on this kickstarter. Call me crazy, but if I made more money I'd put down a lot more.
Guys, I'm just so happy... DID YOU SEE IT!? Of course you did! I'm just so **** happy guys, I want to cry.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Call me the Doubting Thomas, but the reason why the Kickstarter for Mighty No. 9 is succeeding is because it's coming from a very established developer (Keiji Inafune), is heavily based on a very established series (Mega Man) that has appeared everywhere on every kind of console and handheld, and has a very large and prolific fanbase. Shantae literally has two-going-on-three handheld games, is continuously given a low-priority in favor of WayForward's licensed projects (the most recent of which, DuckTales Remastered, having a very big reputation as both a cartoon and a video game), and is generally seen as a small series with an equally-small fanbase.
No... I'm sorry, but Kickstarters only work when people actually care about what you're pitching, and I haven't seen enough proof that people really care for Shantae beyond the characters and nostalgic gameplay (that alone does not make a fanbase) on the same level as Mega Man. I hope WayForward succeeds with this, but I don't have much faith (or for that matter, money) that it'll work out.

You're Doubting Thomas from now on. I'll have you know that in one day Half-Genie Hero is at $68,000 as of right now (my $200 is part of that woooo!) It only needs $400,000 to succeed, the rest is funding for awesome extras. I REALLY hope it makes $500,000 so we can get that epic Risky Mode at least.
That $900k Sihouette is looking fabulously like the addition of Bolo, Sky, and Rottytops as playable characters though (maybe 4-player?)
I KNOW that $1.3M is a campaign starter for a Shantae TV Show, something that Bozon has been interested in for a while and something I'd personally love to see, but THAT high is something I'll have to side with Thomas on.
I think Kickstarter allows you to edit your Pledge so maybe if I can save up enough I can add a good bit more on there by the end of the timeline.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I think it's okay to have doubts. It takes an established fanbase, (Freedom Planet with half the Sonic fanbase.) or hordes of people who've been following the project and eager to play it for years, (Hat in Time comes to mind.) before it's likely to succeed. Still, even while Shantae by herself doesn't have much of an organized fanbase yet, WayForward has its traction in a lot of other areas. I'm hoping their success with other franchises pays off in attracting more people to see what their original series' are about, then Shantae might actually have her own momentum to build on.
Also, I saw the kickstarter page update with an additional $7,000 in as little as 10 minutes earlier today, so that's moving pretty fast for a rather obscure series. Here's to that only gaining more ground from here!

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
It's gained another $10,000 since my last post, I'd say it's still going fairly smoothly. Man I'm really hoping with all my ability this goes well.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Would be nice if they are bonus hats for TF2 (If you have it.) if you bought it on steam. Anyway are there going to be achievements?

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
It would be nice to know if there were achievements/trophies of some sort, but with every other platform besides the WiiU supporting them, I imagine they would make some effort to include a couple. And I think we talked about TF2 hats in an earlier topic.
Also, wow, 29 days to go and it's already over $114,000. I'd say that's pretty amazing considering the kickstarter page wasn't published until the other day.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Yep, sounds great.
Also, I just found out that credit cards are the only available payment option.
There goes my chance of backing the game.

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I would be surprised if Kickstarter didn't have a Paypal option. Lots of people I've seen on Retro have donated to Freedom Planet's kickstarter through Paypal, if I'm recalling that right. I'd guess the option wasn't provided by the page author, or it's not as obvious to find.
Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
Paragon-Yoshi: I asked for you and others that might not be able to pay using Amazon or a Credit Card, but someone did mention that perhaps Gift Certificates might be able to be used. Seems like the general rule of thumb for Kickstarters too is that they will wait until the project is funded first before opening a Paypal option for different reasons. Some say it it might detract from sales that would appear on the Kickstarter specfically, and some also say that Paypal may have rules in place for a project needing to succeed first to become tangible enough to warrant Paypal payments. Who knows, but I'd be surprised if Paypal wasn't an option at some point.
Oh an I dropped a link to this place there, so maybe you'll see some new visitors come in via Cannon Ball Pods soon enough. : )

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
****, that sucks for me.
I don't have a credit card (and will never buy one) and for some reason there are none of those debit cards around here.
Guess I will have to sit out and pray it will reach the goal. ;_;

Re: "Shantae: Half-Genie Hero" Kickstart Campaign
I guess that explains how everyone was able to donate to Freedom Planet's kickstarter, Skye. They reached their goal in a day, so everyone was still donating for the stretch goals, and perks of playing the alpha and beta builds. Pretty amazing that it reached all of them, iirc.
I'm sure once this kickstarter has reached its goal, a lot of other people could join in and help with meeting its stretch goals through paypal.
