Tho the motercycle doesn't come as a big surprise.
Given that it was already mentioned in her character description. ;)
Oh, I don't remember giving the character descriptions on Freedom Planet's site a good enough once over, so this came as a complete surprise to me. =P
Also, has anyone played around with the training dojo? It kinda reminds me of target practice in the Smash Bros series, so it's a fair bit engaging and gives us something else to screw around with on the demo. I think it's helped me get the hang of Carol a little bit better, for one. ^^
Re: Freedom Planet
Hate to double post, but FeliciaVal just rendered one of the other characters, Milla, a while ago.
DAWWWWWWWW. ^w^
Also, we have something to look forward to once it's up, as said by Strife on the Sonic Retro boards :
Just figured I would post that here encase I'm only one keeping up with the news on Freedom Planet. =P

I also had a radio interview last night with the Berklee Internet Radio Network, a.k.a. the BIRN, about the game along with my voice actress for Lilac, Dawn Michelle Bennett. I'll be uploading it as soon as I can.

Re: Freedom Planet
So they are still going for the full voice acting?
Urgh... X_X
Well that drawing looks good tho.
And it looks like all three playable characters have been rendered now.

Re: Freedom Planet
Wait, they're doing fully voiced cutscenes, aren't they? o_o' That would annoy classic Sonic fans to no end if there wasn't an option to skip them, but I think it would look cool if they took a page from Sonic CD's intro/ending cutscenes on the original Mega CD, style and frame-rate wise. It would be very novel, and consistent with the low-palette color style they have going on.
Didn't realize Milla was supposed to be a playable character, though, that blows me away. I'd be eager to see how she'd play out. =P

Re: Freedom Planet
Looks like Strife posted another update on Retro, right on my birthday of all times. XD
I'm liking the new counter. :D

Carol's motorcycle has been fully implemented. She can ride it by collecting fuel tanks like these which are scattered around certain stages. I had to make the bike stage-specific because I found there were a lot of places where it felt glitchy or impractical.
Also, you may notice the small counter just underneath the Energy meter. Every time you collect a crystal, this counter will go down, and when it reaches 0 you'll gain an extra life. This should make crystals far more useful to collect.
Lastly, the rock textures in Dragon Valley have been given a much-needed upgrade to make them pop out more.
I'm liking the new counter. :D
Re: Freedom Planet
Well, guys, Strife just started the Kickstarter Campaign yesterday, and it's already reached the funding goal of $2000 in one night by dozens of backers! Looks like Freedom Planet's going to see ports on multiple platforms now, and not just the PC either! w000000000000000000000000t!!!!!!!!

Re: Freedom Planet
This topic is in horrible need of some love, being the Freedom Planet junkie that I am. I also took the liberty of changing the topic title, since it's no longer a fan game.
There has been a new updated demo for some time, and it obviously changes a lot of things. Widescreen support, changed up movesets, improved artwork, etc. I could go on for a page and still not mention everything, the visuals and game play have changed a lot. This playthrough vid should give you an idea of what it's like now.
And a boss preview, encase you've missed it before.
Links to both the new Windows and Mac demos :

Also, while searching Freedom Planet on Google today, I noticed there was Youtube poop suggestion for it; something inside me made me cry instead of investigate further. Either way, it goes to show how much more popular the game is getting now.

Re: Freedom Planet
Played through the demo of this again, and now I am anticipating it more fervently than ever. Really enjoying the design of the characters and levels, and WOO for tons of potential replayability! \o/
Just hoping Strife can curtail the excesses enough to release it before, like, 2016. x.x''

Re: Freedom Planet
Yeah, and Milla's going to give it even more replay value. Not even Sonic games have that many differences in their characters, it's amazing.
And Strife promised a very generalized 2014 date on Steam Greenlight, (No specific date is promised.) so the content's not too overwhelming for him, and he has a lot of help from other people with cutscenes, as well as original sound effects. From what I've read in Retro topics, he mentions game balancing more often than making the content itself.

Re: Freedom Planet
The newest trailer's not bad though (the title's quite pretentious, which I....oddly don't mind?):

Re: Freedom Planet
It is a little bit, yeah, but it was either that slogan, or Strife harping on the "MAH FEMINISM" card, as one member of Sonic Retro put it. He didn't want the game's main selling point to be the female characters specifically; rather the time period it's looking back on.
Still, this trailer blew me away every second it played, when I saw it on Freedom Planet's Facebook page some time ago. There are plenty of Let's Plays of the game's press alpha on Youtube, but I steered clear of them to avoid spoilers, so I walked into that not expecting anything I saw.

Re: Freedom Planet
Yeah, same, steering clear of any and all spoilers possible for this. S'what I typically try to do anyhow for a gaming title. ^^''
Didja check out Mike Harvey's sweet lil' sketch for FP today? http://mikeharvey.deviantart.com/art/Freedom-Planet-Carol-Attack-sketch-415802722
Good shtuff. Not as good as Luke's drawings though.

Re: Freedom Planet
Yeah, I avoid spoilers for a lot of reasons. I read up on everything there was for Smash Bros Brawl, and listened to its whole soundtrack to death before release, so it held virtually no surprises to me. I think it did a lot to hurt my first impressions of it, because I wasn't excited while playing it for the first time at all. If not for my sister playing through the Subspace Emissionary with me, I would have wanted to return the game for something else and went back to Melee. I have never read up spoilers or too many game details since.
Harvey's techniques are much more solidified than mine, however. I still have a lot to learn in the digital art space. Regardless, I have him on my watchlist, and I thought the sketch was adorable when he posted it.

Re: Freedom Planet
I am surprised nobody posted about this.
The game has been OUT for some time now.
If you still don't have it, GO GET IT!!!
