Why was "Shantae" delayed?
A more neutral version of my topic.
Shantae's release date got delayed again, as you all might know already.
From 20th June to an unspecified date in July.
Now the question that many people, including me, are asking is: WHY?
And since no official explanation has been given so far, we can only sit here and wonder what is going on and when it will be released in the end.
Now why do you think Shantae was delayed?
UPDATE: Now where the new release date stands, I will lock this topic.
Should the game get delayed again, I will re-open this for further discussion.
But I hope that won't be necessary.
So LOCKED!!!

Re: Why was "Shantae" delayed?
I have no idea. I just hope it's worth another delay, especially one so last-second. To be honest, when I said Nintendo was stalling the game on purpose, it was mostly out of annoyed jest. Yes, I hated it, but I'm not going to boycott a whole company over one bad decision. Besides, I've got the Zelda Oracle games to pass the time.
Speaking of which, the 3DS emulator operates on a Game Boy Color setting, which means the (admittedly minor) reward for playing the Oracle games on a GBA are inaccessible. Perhaps the delay is so that Nintendo and/or WayForward can make Shantae operate on the handheld it was truly meant for.

Re: Why was "Shantae" delayed?
If the GBA features are being implemented, that would definitely be worth the delay. Also, the emulation probably wasn't perfect anyway, a lot of emulators like to slow down pretty badly while playing Shantae, so they could be ironing out problems too. If I know Nintendo right, they'll even make sure the game slows down during certain moments like on real hardware for extra nostalgia. (Star Fox 64 on the Wii VC, anybody? An update actually made the game's frame rate chug occasionally like it did originally on the N64, and that was arguably worse for performance with the slowdowns in more detailed areas.)

I am not boycotting it either. Merely asking what's the deal and sharing a fear.Maetch wrote:I have no idea. I just hope it's worth another delay, especially one so last-second. I think we all just want to know why it was delayed.

While the "GBA Enhanced" stuff might be a valid explanation, I can still question things.
Like, if that is the case, why having a set release date of 20th June when it was still not ready?
A valid question, if you ask me. :/

Dunno. Things can still go wrong at the last second, though someone saying why would be nice.Paragon-Yoshi wrote:While the "GBA Enhanced" stuff might be a valid explanation, I can still question things.

Re: Why was "Shantae" delayed?
Conveniently, I've got an example of that to cite. Nvidia's Shield release was delayed the day before it was supposed to launch because of a last minute fault that was found during testing.

(Looks pretty sweet, too, I might add!)
Could be last minute bugs to squish before the release as well, yeah. Nothing sucks more than releasing a broken game and having to release an update patch the same day. Even worse for physical games, like Halo CE's PC port; online multiplayer was pretty much not functional out of the box without a patch.

Re: Why was "Shantae" delayed?
I didn't realize that 3DS GBC emulation didn't use GBA specs. Sounds like as logical a reason as any for the delay. Back when I tried Shantae via emulation, it would only run correctly on VBA 1.5. Other versions of the same emulator didn't seem to work.
So if they are able to somehow get the GBA features in there, then yeah it should be worth the wait.
My other guess was ESRB-related, but I see that's been taken care of already

Re: Why was "Shantae" delayed?
Nah, it doesn't have that option naturally, but if they're making an effort to adding all the content the game has to offer, that'd be worth the wait. Not extremely likely if they have to modify/tweak the emulator, or the game image as a workaround, to do it, but doesn't hurt to dream, eh?
Also, if they do, I'd have a time adjusting to the colors; the palette's completely different in GBA mode, it's much brighter. Were there any other major changes to the game in GBA mode, besides the Tinkerbat form? I can't remember if there were any.
