How would Shantae's friends move and fight in a new game?
Lately, I've been on a retro Castlevania kick, with the third NES game being one of my favorites. What I liked was how each of the characters had their own skills, so I got to thinking what unique Shantae's own friends would bring to a game if they were playable. I'm open to ideas, so pitch away and I'll see what I think could work (taking Shantae's own abilities and gameplay balance into account). Also, for sake of argument, let's assume that Shantae has no transformation dances and thus has to rely on her friends' abilities.
*Bolo
We know he uses (not surprisingly) a bolo in combat, and it's a big one. I would imagine him to be the heaviest-hitter and able to break down the heaviest obstacles.
*Sky
Her abilities focus exclusively on Wrench. She can send him out for a long-range attack or grab onto him to glide across gaps, plus she can "wrench open" certain locks.
*Rotty
She's already athletic, and I think her zombie body can lend itself to some clever uses. For her main attack, she literally throws her fists for a one-two punch (like Plok and Rayman).

Re: How would Shantae's friends move and fight in a new game?
I remember someone here a while back talking about the possibilities of having multiple playable characters, with Bolo being similar to a Belmont as a slower mid-range fighter, and Sky being a quicker character who uses attack birds in a fashion similar to Maria from Dracula X. And I can easily see those styles of gameplay working out for those two.
Regarding Rotty though... your suggestion also sounds genius, eheh ^ ^
Having her launch her limbs at opponents could lend itself to a rather unique play style. And the traits you mention could help keep them from being too similar, such as an emphasis on power or speed between characters, or a limit to attack range and directions.
On the off chance Risky were playable, I think she'd do well as a point-blank berserk character similar to The Claw from Ys Origin. She may lack reach, but could be very quick to close the distance using dash attacks and multi-hit melee strikes

These are some interesting thoughts, guys. ^^ I just wish I had any of my own to share, I feel slim on anything of the sort for Shantae's friends.
