Anybody Ready For a Small Forum Makeover?

I've been thinking a lot lately, and ya know what, I feel like sprucing this place up a little more! Here's what I want to do :

☻ Notice those orange and yellow gradients on the board listings, as well as the forum header? I'm thinking about actually making these gradients consistent with our site Tumblr's theme. So it would be black on top, and fade to purple on the bottom. I feel like we would have a cleaner forum look this way, but I wanted to discuss this with the community first before committing to it.

☻ I also want to bring in more smilies to the forums as well. Do any of you guys know about Onion Tou emoticons? I'd like to make animated Half-Genie Hero style emotions of various Shantae characters, much like with our current smilies. They would be 64x64 in size, so you'd use them a little more sparingly to avoid breaking up lots of paragraphs. These would be added as I make them. All suggestions for emotion animations, and regularly used emotions, as well as what characters they should use, should go in this topic.

Sounds reasonable to me. o3o I've nothing substantial to add since I'm no graphic designer and as such would be speaking out of place if I recommend anything. >w<' Only question: would the forums, to your eye, suffer from an excess of purple should the orange/yellow gradients be cycled out?

I haven't given any thoughts to the lack of color variety in that department. That's going to take some thinking, since it's not easy to make Orange and purple mix together. I may have to find new uses for yellow in the theme.

I'm terribly sorry for not being active on these forums lately, guys. Life got a little crazy, and I was spending more time on a different forum I frequent. It was enough keeping fan art features going on our Tumblr.

Although I'd like to fix that. Tomorrow, I'd like to update our forum theme, fix a few things, edit some descriptions, and I'll add HGH style emoticons as I can. Don't forget you can suggest emoticon ideas here.

Alright, guys! New forum look is done, and Forumotion seems to have added some options since I last went to the Admin panel. The forums should be much easier on the eyes now, and more consistent with our Tumblr site's theme.

What does everyone think? Like it, or hate it?

Very spiff! I'm definitely down with the primarily purple approach.  
I remember you saying you had wanted to possibly incorporate bigger smilies a while back, in the HGH-style in this case. As far as specific emotions, perhaps you could build off the characters' personalities? Shantae for happy emotes, Sky for serious emotes, Rotty for playful emotes, Bolo for laid-back emotes, etc. On paper, it seems kinda similar to the emotes we have now, but that's the only suggestion I can think up at the moment

I'm glad you like the use of purple. I'd love to keep orange or yellow incorporated more, but the way I had it felt too busy.

That makes a lot of sense to do, honestly. Character variety wouldn't suffer, and there would be plenty of emotions to express.
