Summer of Shantae ~ A Let's Play Series

Hello everyone!

I know there have been quite a few topics here and there discussing the current Smash Ballot and the hopes of getting Shantae into Smash Bros.

A little project I've been working on since the ballot's announcement was to do what I could to gather more recognition for her. My end result was deciding to wait and start a huge Let's Play series of all of her games, with the intention of rallying hype for our favorite half-genie.



Things are going to kick off on June 22, going through the original game, and to the next from there. I'm really excited because I just love playing these games, and gosh darn if she doesn't have so many amazing abilities that would do well in Smash Bros.

I'll start by saying you've got a good voice and recording equipment. Some of the biggest deterrents of watching Let's Plays for me are when people sound like they're eating their mics, or screen recording with a potato. Your presentation is much appreciated!

More Let's Plays of Shantae is a good thing; there can never be too many of those. I always find it amazing when fans not only love the series a lot, they try to spread the word while they're at it. (Sometimes I wonder if that trait is unique to this fanbase, as I don't see it so frequently with other series'.)

I think for me, it's thanks to all the Shantae games being so fantastic. Never a super dull moment in any of them, all being very memorable. It's very rare for a series to be like that, so I think that enthusiasm shines through when discussing them. It's really that WayForward is fantastic at making games when it comes down to it, I think!

Thanks for the encouragement, and hopefully these won't be as cringe-worthy as stuff you've seen in the past. Working on getting the week ready so they're all Ret-2-Go!

I apologize for double-posting, and I'm definitely not going to post daily since that would be silly, but the first episode is out!



Shantae's first journey through Sequin Land to stop the nefarious Lady-Pirate Risky Boots begins! Maybe I'll update here weekly with all the episodes that came out? Not sure yet. Let me know what you all would advise.

I wouldn't object to them being posted as they come. If you do, it'd be a good idea to wrap the videos in Spoiler tags, so they don't all load at once on each page of the topic. I'll give this a watch when I'm feeling more awake.

Also, I could post certain episodes during the night hours of our Tumblr blog, if you need a little signal boost to other Shantae fans. Lots of people are following the Fans Portal's blog now, and I'm having difficulties thinking of ways to bring more Shantae content to followers' dashes in other time zones. Signal boosting new Shantae LPs, and a "Weekly Fan Art" feature for what was reblogged throughout the week, might be ways to keep things fresh on a nightly basis.

I'll make sure to use the spoiler tag from now on, my apologies.

As for posting via tumblr/Twitter, etc. I have accounts there as well if that makes anything easier (as in, just reblogging content as it appears). But I'd rather you watch through this first to make sure it meets your blog's quality standards. I would not be opposed to having them reposted, I want them to be spread around as much as possible partially for the series awareness but mainly to get more votes on the Smash Ballot.

I'll probably go with my gut instinct and post a batch every Friday.

Next week there will be a full seven since there will still be updates on the weekend, so Shantae (GBC) should be done in just a few weeks! Then it's off to the Revenge of that one person... whatever her name was,

Sorry for the lack of responses, I was in Athens (Georgia, not Greece!) for the week, and only had 3G on my phone there. Videos don't stream too well on that. At least I had writing, and Risky's Revenge I bought on Steam before the trip to keep me preoccupied, beat it twice. Surprisingly, a select few games on Steam don't have DRM at all, lucky me!

I'm back and ready to give your vids a go on my tablet with WiFi, after a while. (Kinda backed up on art projects and studying.) Can't spread the word if I don't watch and recommend them to our blog! I think people will be plenty interested, since you've consistently delivered more than one video already. It's certainly a good time to be a Shantae fan.

No worries! I've actually been pretty busy this weekend myself, hence the lack of posting the week's videos on Friday. Considering Sunday is probably a better day to update them en masse, this seems like it was a slight gift in disguise. Hope you enjoy them.

Sorry for so many, just trying to keep them up-to-date with the most recent one which went live today. They've also been posted on my Twitter account @KirbyVolt and on my tumblr page "kvlps" if you wanted to just quick retweet/reblog them there. I've also been trying to talk about this on the WayForums of WayForward's website, but probably went about it the wrong way, posting in the off-topic section since I wasn't sure how "Shantae-worthy" these were. But it's definitely more important to spread these out to those who aren't as aware, so we can get our Half-Genie into Smash if possible,
