Shantae (GBC-original) e-Shop Release - Risky's Revenge Sequel?

Looks like we've got ourselves two news about Shantae. Which is very good. 
1. GBC Shantae e-Shop Release
Apparently it is currently in the hands of the ESRB for rating. And after that, it will be released on the e-Shop.
For every American, who missed this game, finally the opportunity to catch up on it.
Plus, even Europeans will finally be able to play this game the legit way.

2. WayForward thinking about a sequel for "Risky's Revenge"
Actually something that long overdue, since "Risky's Revenge" has left with so many loose ends.
Let's hope WayForward will do this and tie them up good.

Even after this, I hope Shantae will still continue. It's definitely one of the best game series out there.
It deserves to become a large franchise.
All the more reason for us to lend a hand in every way we can.

I've been able to briefly try this game with an emulator, but using my keyboard for a controller doesn't work so well for me. I'd love to try this one for real, so now I can't wait for it! Day one purchase, no questions asked! ^.^

The fact that the ending of Risky's Revenge was sort of open didn't bother me because it looked like it was setting up perfectly for some kind of sequel. I sure hope they go forward with it--I'd love to see how things continue from where it left off (and I'm really hoping for more playable characters!). I also hope they choose a game system I have to put it on! Assuming that's not a problem... well, another likely day one choice for me! ^.^

This is fantastic news! :D Thanks for finding this Paragon, an entire wall of smilies could not fully express my excitement. (Well, I don't have a 3DS, so I can't go totally insane, but still, at least more people besides iOS users, and those greed-stricken collectors of the original copies, have a chance at experiencing the game.) Finally, the 3DS is a getting a decent Gameboy Color title these days! (I'm sorry, but Link's Awakening doesn't count yet, it's just not a complete experience without the Oracle of Ages and Seasons being on the VC too.)

Paragon, you're my hero. Who knows how long it would have taken me to hear about this on my own?
Glad I joined the forum already! Anyway, the fact it's at ESRB means it's making progress, which I'm excited about. It's also good to see Capcom logos are being removed this time around; that misunderstanding is too common.
One other hope is that it will be released already "GBA Enhanced," which I'm sure it wil be.

Quite a lot of good news in a few days. Now we can finally encourage the developpers and purchase the original game. That way, we can let them know we care about the game and the franchise in general.

I could see them waiting till October to release it on the same day RR was released. Either way it should be out by the time I have a 3DS so I can play both back to back.
On a side note: I don't think Risky's quote "I'll slice you into pieces and dance on your runny innards!" is very E. Though Ocarina of Time made it as E and Dead Hand was the scariest thing I'd ever seen at 8 years old.

This is NOT an official update, but I might as well share it here for anyone who's wondering. I sent a message to WayForward yesterday asking if there was any news on releasing Shantae GBC on the 3DS Virtual Console. Here's what I got.
So, that's definitely not a forgotten project. Hopefully we'll be seeing it in a few more months, but we just don't rightly know yet.
My email to WayForward support wrote:I know this was in the FAQ, but considering it's been some time since the announcement in November, I was wondering if there's any word on when Shantae might come to the 3DS virtual console. Even an update of "we're currently waiting to hear back from X" or "the process is underway, and we expect to have a new update announcement soon" would be nice. (My reason for asking is that having a rough idea of how long I have to wait will help with a short-term decision.)
I understand if you can't share anything outside of official announcements. Either way, thank you for taking the time to look at this!

Was wondering about this myself. I couldn't help but start to think about the possible reasons why there would've been such a long wait. Something to do with Capcom publishing the original game? Virtual Console compatibility issues? Or were they simply waiting to release it closer to The Pirate's Curse?
At any rate, it's good to know we'll soon have a terrific trio of adventures at our fingertips in due time

Matt Bozon has recently been on his DA page, and in response to questions about GBC Shantae getting released, he says "two months tops" (which would be around June). No guarantees, of course, but at least it's something.

I'm a little late to the party, but that's a real kick in the pants for anyone with a 3DS expecting the game yesterday. You guys want to bet it's to build up more hype for the game from all the fans going crazy over this news? Bad press is better than no press, so I want to believe there's a good chance this game isn't going to slip under the radar when it does launch.

I didn't realize it'd take THIS long to remove the Capcom logo from the game. But for reals...

Haha, the Capcom logo was removed nearly years ago. =P Still, I'm curious to see if the artificial demand this is creating will trigger more sales by the game's launch. It's a hype train with no brakes, here we go people!
